Treshtenik
Treshtenik resort area is located in close proximity to Rila National Park. The area is a convenient starting point of a number of tourist routes in the park, like Treshtenik Hut - Granchar Hut - Zavrachitza Hut. Treshtenik Hut is situated 1 746 m above sea level.
The area also includes "Villa Desislava" family hotel, which is nearby a ski run. The existing ski zone is now being extended and is going to facilitate tourists in getting to the boundaries of the National Park.
The Treshtenik-Nehtenitza region has proved to be very attractive to investors interested in the development of tourism related to the clean environment and the quiet of the high mountain, as well as to the protection and exploration of the natural heritage of the region. The proximity to resorts of national significance as Bansko and Velingrad provides an opportunity for the development of an integrated regional tourist product.
Yakoruda Municipality is actively concerned with turning the region into a new tourist centre and is working in cooperation with Belitza municipality on the preparation of Project "Semkovo, Andrianov Chark, Treshtenik, Nehtenitza - historical royal path - past, present, future".

The villages
Rila and Rhodope mountains meet along the valley of Mesta River, where the municipal centre of Yakoruda also is. The villages of the municipality are situated on the Rhodope slopes. Avramovo, Smolevo, Bel Kamen, Buntzevo and Konarsko are perched on the high mountain ridges. Beautiful vistas open up from them to Rila, while Cherna Mesta and Yurukovo are huddled in the valley of the river.
Almost half of the municipality's population lives in the villages.
It is worth visiting the 120-year old apiary of bee-master Hasan Shibliov in the village of Konarsko, which is famous for its unique high-mountain honey, produced by 80 bee families. Along the road from the village of Cherna Mesta to Yakoruda, you might also turn off to the nearby mountain-trout breeding pond, in order to try some freshly-caught fish.

"
Medieval Yakoruda - on the road of timber, tar, wine! Establishment of an international cultural events centre"

The implementation of these activities involves representatives of the local community. Training seminars for preparation of tourist guides and security officers to the newly created tourist sites are also envisaged. The information centre established under the project will promote the new tourist product by means of an advertising campaign, a photo exhibition and an international conference.

"Development of sustainable fishing tourism in the Leeve and Nehtenitza areas - a means of preserving the natural heritage of Yakoruda Municipality"
At the end of 2006, Yakoruda Municipality started the implementation of a project financed under PHARE Trans-border Cooperation Bulgaria - Macedonia. The project partners include Konche Municipality (Macedonia) and Local Initiative Group - Yakoruda. The project duration is 12 months and its total value - 197 608 Euro.
The purpose of the project is to encourage sustainable economic development by means of preserving the natural heritage of the Nehtenitza and Leeve areas and the protection and increase of the Balkan-trout population in the Mesta River feeders. A series of activities have been planned, including the extension of the trout-breeding farm in the Leeve area and fish-planting of the river feeders within Nehtenitza. An important part of the project is concerned with the rehabilitation of the three-kilometer section of the Yakoruda-Treshtenik0Nehtenitza municipal road, the construction of supporting tourist infrastructure in Nehtenitza and the conducting of an intensive promotional campaign.
